John Deere 314 Engine Substitute

Hello everyone,
I have a John Deere 314 Garden Tractor; the original 14 hp K321 Kohler engine has a hole in the side of the block, so my question is will a 16 hp K341 bolt right back in or will it be necessary to do some fabrications?

Only difference will probably be with the oil pan but I'm not sure you can just switch the pans on some of the blocks.

Crankshaft size and engine-to-crankcase interface MAY be different. (Wide base/narrow base.)

A K341 from a 300 or a single cylinder 316 will bolt right in.

You can swap the pans between the K321 and K341 - as they all take the same gasket. So keep the oil pan off the K321 and put it on your K341.

The deep sump pan can be used on the K301, 321, and K341 as long as you have the clearence for it.
