Hi ,
I have been working on a 2011 model cub Cadet ( model number 13WX90AS009 4456910 ) with a 42 inch cut and a 19 horse Kohler Courage engine , pedal drive . At first the mower wouldn't go backwards and went forward slowly . We changed both drive belts and now it will go forwards and backwards fine just not very fast , but faster than it would before , a little bit anyways . Owner says that it will go faster in reverse than forwards . Variable speed pulley seems to work fine . I've been told that it's made to work like that and some are slower than others . I think that it should go faster too . How fast should this mower go in forwards and reverse ? Is there any adjustments that we overlooked ? A friend who works on small engines for a living and has worked on a lot of MTDs helped me and we couldn't fine any adjustments . Also mower takes spells sometimes where when you start it up after it has set for a while , like over night , mash down on drive pedal and it will go a few feet and stop . ( It's done it in reverse as well as forwards ) Shift between forwards and reverse a few times and / or pull up on break pedal some and it will eventually take off after a few times of doing this !! Sort of like the drive belts are wet but they aren't !! Thanks for any and all help .
