Hydrostatic Craftsman with Peerless Transmission

Hi ,

I have a Craftsman riding mower ,model number 917.270722 , about a 1999 model with a Peerless hydrostatic transmission according to the Sears repair center parts list . My question is how much fluid is supposed to be in this transmission and how do I check it and what type / brand of oil do I use in it ???? Thanks for any and all help !!

Your tractor manual should tell what the oil capacity is for the hydrostatic drive and which fluid to use. My Wards tractor holds 4 quarts. There's no dip stick. Hal

I might be of some help if I knew what Peerless you have.
Should be a tag on right side down low that you can find
something like this. 205-023 A,B,C or 205 024 A, B, or C.
If you are doing searches look for VST-205 (variable speed transmission)
