Kawasaki FE250D engine

Hi, I purchased a replacement engine, a Kawasaki FE250D from Small Engine Warehouse for my JD Gator. Everything went fine until I was all finished up and started the thing up. It runs great at idle , as soon as you give it gas it dies. Tried everything I could think of, new fuel pump and fuel lines, cleaned tank and fresh fuel. I discovered it runs good with choke out about half way. I plan to call SEW, but until I do was wondering if anyone has had similar problem. Thanks

If it runs with the choke half out, you have a plugged passage in the carb..

Another thought to go with below: Are you using the air cleaner supplied with the engine? The carb jets must match the air cleaner system.
