Tom ,
On the post below you said ...

" All other hoses are low pressure or suction hoses rated for hydraulic use. For best results DO NOT USE gear type clamps on these hoses."

Question : why not use gear type clamps on these hoses ???

what type clamps should be use ??
THANKS ..... mark

Gear style clamps are not friendly to hydraulic low pressure or suction hoses. When the gear clamp is tightened, the threads in the band allow the outer covering of the hose to squeeze through the slots. As the clamp is tightened further, those slots tear into the outer covering and ruin the end of the hose.

Secondly, these types of clamps have been known to loosen all on their own and that causes oil leaks as well as hoses blowing off the fitting, resulting in total oil loss.

What you want is called a "bolt type band clamp" and I have provide a link below. There are no slots in a band clamp, just smooth steel and bolt with a nut is used to compress the clamp. These clamps do not damage the hose and they usually hold their tension far better than the standard gear clamp does.

However, their range of contraction is less than gear clamps so you must order the correct diameter of clamp for the OD of hose you are using.

Click on the link below and then click on "bolt clamps" on the far right of your screen to view the selection available.

You need swivel nuts installed on your hydraulic hoses either by having them installed at your local hydraulic shop or using reusable swivel nuts.
You also need steel tube fittings so you can connect your hoses. Usually flared tube to pipe threads. Hal

Hal,
You obviously misunderstand the issue. We are talking about low pressure hoses here, not high pressure.

Yes you can. Except for the fact that Colt, Case and Ingersoll NEVER used such fittings. Since the tractors have worked just fine without such fitting for more than 50 years, there is no reason to change from OEM.

Yes that is true. There are times when making modifications are needed but thankfully for CCI owners, this is not one of them. If the hoses are in good shape and the proper clamps are used, then there are no problems. If it ain't broke, then there is no reason to change things.
