john deere lt 160 oil leak

Ive got a problem with a john deere lt 160 with a kohler 16hp (cv 460) motor. it leaks oil some where around the front of the motor. its not the valve cover. I just resealed that. can it be the head gaskit leaking?. thanks Bob

Something with Briggs engines. Also true for TWO piece crank case units. TOP and BOTTOM. There is a gasket in there and the bolts come loose. Take your little metric wrench and give the bolts all of the way around a little snug. Maybe 8 or 9 of them. Might just fix you up. I have also seen where the oil filter casting has a tiny tiny hairline crack and the oil can slowly seep out. That is on a Kohler commander engine. They all can develop weird stuff.

well iam going to put in a new head gaskit. ill check the case bolts to see if there tite. I looked up under the engine to see if the crank seals were leaking but it all looked good. ill let ya know what I find. thanks Bob
