berta plow vs gravely rotary plow

BCS offers a berta plow which has four rotary
plows, where the gravely has one. Does anyone have
any actual experience with both? Thanks in
advance;any links appreciated.

Use the Gravely rotary plow on my 4 wheel tractors, ready to plant after one pass. Never heard of the berta plow so can't offer an opinion.

If you mean the rotary plow like the BCS has, then it has the same 4 blades as a Gravely. BCS says theirs is "safer" than the Gravely which makes no sense to me since the BCS version is right by your feet and the gravely is way out front. Anyway the Berta version I saw some months back looked just like the BCS. I bet they do a good job, just like the Gravely.

Have the Gravely rotary plow that I use on both of my machines. They are almost un-stopable. Beauty of a seed bed in one pass and it is 9 inches wide by almost 12 inches deep! Love it.

The Berta rotary plow is safer because it is behind the tractor. The handlebars swing to the side with one lever, so you're walking to the side and behind the rotary plow, allowing you more control and better visability. Your ribs don't end up between the handlebars when you get careless. When you hit a rock or other immoveable object, it skitters up or around it. With a Gravely, you end up with bruised or broken ribs when the plow hits a rock and the handlebars smack you in the chest.

Or at least that's what I've been told. I've run a Berta double plow on a BCS 850 diesel, but never a Gravely...

Right, you never ran a Gravely but you heard old wives tales from other people who never ran a Gravely either. No one stands between the handle bars of a Gravely running the plow or tiller or anything else I can think of. It wouldn't be comfortable, it wouldn't allow good access to the controls, it wouldn't let you swing the tractor. As far as visibility, the Gravely runs int he furrow of the previous pass. It's right out in front where you can clearly see it. The BCS system the plow is under a shield and the tractor is covering your view of the furrow for 2-3 feet ahead of the plow. How is that better visibility?

No offense guy, but you never been around a Gravely and you feel qualified to offer a critical opinion?!!
