B & S model 19 & 19D engines

Searching for info for a friend who has a Briggs #19 and a Briggs 19D. Are the valves and crank shafts interchangeable? Thanks in advance! Sam

For the most part, yes, the crankshafts and valves will interchange.

However, there were 19 different crankshafts used in the Model 19 engines, and there were 14 different crankshafts used in the Model 19D engines. ...So, if the crankshaft you want to use is the same as the one you can't use, then all is OK.

The ball bearings for the crankshaft are the same for both engines.

The # 23835 Exhaust valve and # 23836 Intake valves were used in both the Model 19 and the Model 19D engines. ...However, there was an alternate #26735 Exhaust valve used in only a few of both the 19 & 19D engines having certain B&S Type numbers.
