In 2000 we purchased a Husqvarna YTH150 lawn tractor, has Kohler 15 hp motor and hydrostatic tranny. The motor is excellant, but the stamped sheet metal frame is troublesome. i have had to repair a few cracks and also bolster them with lite angle iron to keep things sturdy.I think there cutting blades work good but wear out in a hurry.Anyone else have similar experiences?

That tractor is basically the same as a similar size Craftsman lawn tractor of the same vintage.
At least your Husqvarna has the Kohler Command engine on it.
Those mowers are built to meet a price, so each component is engineered to be made as cheaply as possible, including the frame. At nearly 15 years old you probably will have some problems with metal fatigue. Being that old, I think you got pretty good life out of it. I'm thinking its design life was expected to be about 8 to 10 years.

In my opinion, no one makes a lawn tractor as durable as they once did. And if they did, it would cost about two times what one sells for now and no customer would buy it.

I have two husqvarnas in my yard. They are both GT machines so they are heavy built. One is a hydro and the other beast is a six speed brute. One is 21hp Briggs and the other is 22hp. These machines are built by American Lawn Products. Much better than MTD stuff. The big machine I have today costs over $3200.oo and yes I would love to have a new one. They are like driving a very small field tractor compaired to a "lawn" tractor. Thank goodnes you do not have a Kohler COURAGE engine!!!!! What a heap of junk. The older ones {your machines age} crack down the side of the crankcase. Ask me how I know!

Oooops. American Yard Products. If you go to your local AYP dealer and look at some of the big machines you will start to tremble with lust!!

My Husqvarna has a Courage 2 cyl. motor with over 540 hours and is still going stong powering a 54" deck. I guess if you don't take care of them they won't take care of you.
