Gibson Tractor Model A Brake Repair

I am restoring a Gibson Model A tractor and the rear brake bands are damaged (rusted through) and need to be replaced. I have been unable to find new brake bands. Does anyone know where the brake bands for a Model A Gibson can be purchased?

I am pretty sure that there is a Gibson collector club somewhere on the internet. They may be able to help.

If it comes to it, I bet those bands could be fabricated. If you can come up with the steel band, I am sure it can be lined with friction material. I used to get brake bands re-lined locally but my source went out of business.

Another source of friction material is McMaster Carr. I know they have a website. I got some friction material from them once for a Cub Cadet.

Rusted thru brake bands are a common problem. There was a guy who made them somewhere on one of these forums.
I made one for my Gibson and was able to reuse the friction material as it was brass riveted onto the band.
It was not hard nor time consuming. If you can not reuse your friction material there are several suppliers.....McMaster Carr, Grainger......
I have a full size tractor, but prefer using the Gibson for many jobs. You can not wear them out and with liquid filled rear tires it will still spin the tractor tread tires in second gear.
