Cub Cadet Original Transmission oil level

OK, I see a big pipe plug almost 1/2 way up the side of the reduction/transmission adapter housing. I also see a smaller plug on the side of the transmission case itself.

Are the two compartments connected?

If the two compartments are connected, which plug determines the oil level in the transmission case? I have it at the lower plug now. (Like it would be if it was in a Farmall Cub.)

Thanks!

Thanks for replying. Just there is no level plug on the rear cover of this transmission. I had it off Thursday messing with the ring gear carrier. There are just the level plug on the left side and a bigger plug on the right side of the reduction housing/frame adapter at the front.

Most, if not all of my other Cub Cadets do have a plug in that cover. I guess an Original is a somewhat different animal.

It uses the same transmission as the cub, and the little plug low on the left side is the level plug, holds 3 1/2 pints. The adapter is separate, I cannot help you with the amount for it though.

Sorry, my mistake. I thought all IH Cubs had the filler plug in the rear cover. To my surprise, the Original didn't.

Here is the Lubrication Guide from the Operator's Manual. Item number 10 is the filler/level plug. (Sorry, I can't get a image to post here)

The transmission holds 3.5 quarts of either SAE30 or HyTran.

It is on the RH side of the Transmission, at or slightly above, axle height
