184 International First Gear

I have an International 184 that falls out of 1st. gear. I haven't taken the cover off but any ideas what the problem is and how to fix it.
Thank you.

It may help if you also post this quesiton in the Farmall/IHC forum, those transmissions are about like the one in the Farmall Cub.

I had a problem with my Farmall Cub jumping out of third gear, but it was a sticky detent ball.

Worn gears and worn bearings and worn or damaged shift forks can also lead to jumping out of gear. First gear was the gear of choice if you plow with one and it sometimes takes a beating. I have a 154 that First gear is very noisy.

Your transmission brake is working isn't it? For some reason those transmissions tend to spin when the clutch is released much more readily than the Farmall Cub and Cub loboy. Trying to shift while the gears are turning is very hard on everything in there.
