Old Pictures of 646 I hope?

The way I bought it. Some of it was brought home in bushel baskets (BASKET CASE) you can call it. LOL. Hope all pictures work?

If you have one basket with Onan CCKA parts in it, then you have a 646. But if the basket is filled with parts for a Kohler K-321, then it is a 644.

I don't know what you paid for it but you have about $400.00 in value with the D-10 wheel weight kit by itself. You have a pretty big job in front of you and since it is stripped down this far, you might want to think about taking it all the way. Then you could get the bare frame media blasted to get rid of that horrid red paint.

My guess is that this one is an early 70's unit and should be painted Power Red on the frame, rims and undercarriage. All of the tin should be Industrial/Federal Yellow. Both colours are available from your local CASE/IH dealer in quarts and gallons.

Hi Tom,
This had the 16.5 onan. Loader has 646 decals on it. This missing the ID tag so can't really say if it is or not.
I tryed finding someone in my area that does sand blasting but in our area there hard to find unless you want to drive 60 miles.
I done the blasting the hard way. Using a stiff wire knotted wire brush on a angle grinder. Was alot of work doing it that way. I did get it back together about a week ago only got the power red painted not the industrial yellow yet.
I did find out this is a 1972 model a fella showed me a part on the control valve under the platform if it had the old style linkage and it did.
As far as what I payed for it we did some bartering on a torch set that I had. It sat for quite a few years as the hoes was dry rotted. Tanks was empty. I figure around 250 what the torch set was worth to me.
I guess I will try going up to see what the link you put on an see what it's like on it.
I been thinking of putting a Torque Generator on the 646. I seen few farm tractors with them on the steering shaft. Not sure how they work or whats required to make it work?
I'm thinking the pump must have at least 3500 lbs of pressure or less and that should be enought to operate it. Just thinking about it for now. I haven't ever seen a case 648 yet and im about 70 yrs old now. Must be scarce.
Years ago I owned a Oliver Super 77 tractor and it steed very hard when putting on the cultavators! I when to a farm machinery scrap yard near me and swiped out a power steering motor and directional valve out of it and steering cylinder and put it on my 77. It worked ok but the pump size I had was small and didn't have the pressure to crank it real fast. But it was better than what I had. I have 1966 case 530 tractor and it steers great.
I'll try getting some more pictures taken of the 646 but I have forgotten the fomula to get a half dozen on all at once.

Pic of my 530 use to be my dads tractor. All original except rear tires. Still has less than 2500 hrs on it. It's sure helpfull with the 3pt boom saves on the back.
Pic about 3 years old.
