B S Float replacement

Just had to replace a leaking brass float in my 1951, 8 HP Model 23 FBC.
The replacement is plastic.
The problem is that the new float is no where near being level to the carb body as it should be and there is no way to adjust it that I can see.
Has anyone run into this problem.
The only solution I see is to replace the float valve with a shorter length

I am guessing there is no metal tab on that plastic float that can be bent to change the float level?

Did you replace the needle valve at the same time? If so, is the new needle the same length as the old one?

What is the part number of the float they sold you? I am wondering if they sold you the wrong part.

I do know that plastic floats on the Nikki carburetors that Briggs uses are nowhere near 'level' as we used to know it, but they work fine.

Correct - no metal tab to adjust, only a plastic tab which is not adjustable.
I did buy a new needle valve but it was exactly the same length.
I was ready to take the float back but in the bag with the new valve there was also another valve that had a metal tip instead of rubber.
There was also a small rubber seat to insert into the brass seat. This valve was shorter in length.
So I replaced the valve with this shorter one and put the rubber seat in.
After doing this the float is almost level so I will give this a try this weekend and see if it seals and the engine runs OK. I'll keep you posted on this.
