Suggestions on where to mount and how to mount an hour meter on the Cub Cadet 128?
Where is best place to tap into the electrical system?

I bought one on e-bay. I mounted it in the center of the dash on my CC 72. One wire wraps around the plug wire and the hot wire goes to the + side of the battery.

You need to tell us more. Are you wanting to put an OEM hour meter on? If its some other brand, tell us what brand/model. If you want to install an OEM hour meter, I think that IHcubcadet.com has the electrical schematics for most of the IH built Cub Cadets.

The easiest aftermarket hour meter I have put on a mower is the Maintenence Minder by Briggs and Stratton. They use a pickup wire wrapped 4 times around the spark plug wire and a ground wire. The base of the hour meter has a pretty good adhesive and it stays pretty well on a smooth surface.

Greenfrog:

On a Cub Cadet of that series, they were mounted in one of two places. The dash was one area, or in the panel (either side) in the engine compartment.

To wire up the Hour Meter simply the ground one wire and the other goes to the "I" terminal of the Ignition Switch.
