Thought I would introduce myself. I graduated
from farm tractors to L&G tractors and I post
now and then in the tractor forum. The other
day, after doing a brake job on my truck, I
took a test drive over to the town scrapyard.
I often find little treasures there as it is
just a wide spot at the edge of town where the
town folk can drop off metal with nobody to
bother them. Mostly pick up scrap metal to do
welding projects. This trip there was a "big
box" generic lawn tractor sitting in the pile.
I checked the engine which turned over nicely
with a healthy compression bounce. The oil is
clean and up to the full mark. The deck is bad
and I think that's the reason for junking it.
The hydra transmission releases and I was able
to roll it over to the truck. The drive belt
is loose and probably was another reason to
junk it. Anyway, it's nice to find something
to tinker with and the tractor is worth what I
paid for it $0.
