1975 Jim Dandy going back together

Here's the Jim Dandy that I purchased last week getting a face lift. Wasn't ready to put the wheels on yet but had to get it inside before we get winter weather.. Supposed to have record cold weather for Miss. For next several days. Yea I know not like you guys in the north but cold for us. 28 at night and 45 to 50 day time. It's bad:)

Which ever serial number says JIM DANDY on it, ignore that one. That tractor is either an ECONOMY 24/__ or a POWER KING 24/__ depending on the year. The __ is where the engine horse power goes , like 24"(tire size) and 14(engine horsepower 2414. Except, most Economys didn't have the 2414 or 1614 designation. The top picture is my 24/12 and the second is a JIM DANDY. The JD is built on a channel iron frame.

This one is a 2414. I think I'm right the engine is a K 321. It is a good running tractor with hydrolics and 3 point hitch. Has rear wheel weights. Says Jim Dandy down the top center of hood.

So this beast has two different serial numbers? Obviously someone took two tractors (the most unlikely pair) and made one. The dash is from a 1981 tractor and the grill is from a 1975 tractor. The hoods were the same in these years so that makes sense. Most of the tractor appears to be a 1981 Power King 2414. The engine probably is a k321 14hp. I think the only thing Jim Dandy is the hood and grill, both from a 75 Jim Dandy when Jim Dandy was still the model designation. It wasn't until 76 or 77 did they start using the numbers for the model. 2414 would mean 24" rear wheels and 14hp engine.

I just looked at your pictures again and noticed the brake pedals. That is definetely a 1981 Power King 2414. Someone just raped an old Jim Dandy to make this one complete. So this is most definetely NOT a Jim Dandy tractor.

Thanks Jeff, I had figured out that someone had used two tractors to get this one but didn't know which one I had for sure. I'll go with the 1981 Power King until someone convinces me different. :). Thanks again

Definetely a Power King. The Jim Dandy didn't use those brake pedals and had 8" front wheels instead of the 12" wheels you have. Also, they only had 16" rear wheels, not 24".

If you go with the 1981 theory it could be iffy.
By that time they started to put the four speed transmission on them and had a park brake lock on a lever and cable assembly on the drive shaft cover betwixt your legs.

True but the tranny tunnel may have been from another tractor also. He wouldn't be missing much by not having that parking brake. Never owned one that worked right. The 4 speed was an option in that year.

hi golfcartman. may I ask how tall your front tires are mounted. working on a 68 PK put those same tires on and have maybe 1/4" between tire and steering link. my tires are close to 21" mounted.thanx

Pretty sure the tranny tunnel is original to the tractor. Didn't look like it had ever been off.got to repair one side on the rear where the battery sits. I have a nice tranny tunnel for a Jim Dandy that I used to own but never put it on the tractor. It is about 7 inches shorter than the one I'm working on. Thought I might use it but want fit.
