Repair Manual for a MTD 719-0367 Transaxle

Does anyone know of a repair manual for a MTD 719-0367 transaxle. Mine started acting to at the end of this summer. It started to seem to slip when going forward. I took it apart and expected to find stripped gears. So far I don't see any. I didn't totally disassemble the differential part yet, but it seems solid. Another thing I haven't fully pulled apart is the front gear area where the shift fork rides. Any suggestions welcome and appreciated. I'm also trying to figure out how they get six speeds on the tractor as the transaxle seems to be only a single speed with forward and reverse options only.
Thanks,
Bill

MTD transaxle provides only forward/reverse...all gearing comes from the "Transmatic"pulley system's variable pulley setup.Unless abused these transaxles seldom fail.Your slippage problem is likely related to the variable pulley and it's linkages....check belts and all various pivot points in the variable pulley system. With the center cover off and transaxle in NEUTRAL,you can carefully observe the whole operation in all seven"gears" with engine running,Chances are a worn spring or the idler pully directly below the rf side of the seat is not swinging freely.

I'm getting a ratcheting metallic noise when it appears to slip and loose forward motion.

I'm betting its in a Troybilt and probably has the 'Drive' or push-to-go pedal.

(Those with the push to go pedal seem to fail most often and I suspect part of it is because the gears have to rotate part of a revolution in order for the coupling to engage them. If the pedal is pretty far down when it finally engages it really hammers the gear and coupling and they loosen up on the shaft.)
Just a guess, that's neither here nor there.

Those transaxles can slip like you describe. With a Jerk/ratcheting action every few seconds while under load. (Usually they back up fine) On the few transaxles that I have taken apart, either the bevel gears were too loose on the shaft or else there was damage to the coupling that slides between them.

I am thinking that to really repair one you will need to replace at least the bevel gear that pulls in the forward direction, the shaft it rides on, and the coupling that engages it and locks it to the shaft. You probably need the bushings for that shaft too.

What we do in the shop where I work is just install a new transaxle. I am thinking that transaxle part number supercedes to a kit that includes a new transaxle and a few pieces to mount it in certain mower frames. (Usually you don't use the loose parts.) In some cases, the replacement transaxle from the kit has a much larger case than the original transmission. I presume being larger, it shoud be more durable, but I don't know.

Bill I have the same MTD transaxel
Mine did the same slipping.
Changed both trans belts; works like new.
The nature of this system requires both belts to be near perfect for the variable pulley to work properly.
