I think this goes with your other post. You don't say much about it here.

I am thinking the spring on the governor arm hooks to the inner end of the arm on the 'control' opposite where the throttle cable hooks to it.

The spring I am talking about is in the 2nd and 3rd pictures to the left of the fuel inlet elbow on the carburetor.

That spring doesn't look long enough though. Either its the wrong spring or else there is a supposed to be a short wire with hooks on each end between the spring and the arm on the 'control'.

Thanks T.R.K., that is the way I have had it hooked up, but I have NO control over the throttle. Do you know how long the wire should be I have tryed to hook the wire that is there now to all the holes in the throttle but it is either too long or the throttle would not work at all. This does go with the other thread but I did not think it even posted at all but glad it did I had trouble getting photos on. I don't know how get to the other thread.[/color:96aaef7ac4][/color:96aaef7ac4][/color:96aaef7ac4]

There are two possible senarios:

1. Hopefully, You just need to add the correct length wire between the outer hole on the control and the governor spring.

The best way would be to order the correct link, if it is still possible to get one. Get the model and spec. number and find the correct part number and get your local Tecumseh dealer to order it for you. Failing that, Perhaps someone else is still running one of those engines and he could measure his link and you could make it out of throttle cable wire. Or else you could guess-timate the length of the wire and make one the same length between ends except with a Z shaped bend in the middle and adjust the angles of the Z bend until it runs about the right speed.

2. If it has been run that way very much-with the linkage not hooked up- there is a possibility that the governor assembly inside the crankcase has broken. Also, I remember the last one of those engines that I worked on the governor, the problem was the arm was loose on the shaft that came out the side of the engine and that was the problem with ut running away. That was about 7 years ago.

I have an illustration from my manual that shows the linkage, but it does not tell me what length that wire you are missing is supposed to be. The manual is dated 11/83.
