Wheel horse snow blower dies under load

I have a Wheel horse 310-8 with a kohler K241S. I use it with a mowing deck and it works fine. I have had a snow blower attachment around for years, but never hooked it up. Yesterday I did. When I start to pull on the PTO clutch everything rotates just fine, but when I continue to pull, to fully engage, the engine dies. Not enough power? Not enough gas/air? Governor adjustment? Any ideas?

Most likely its a fuel issue. The snow blower is probably needing more power than the mower deck, at least until it gets up to speed, and the carburetor/pump/lines/filter are just not supplying the extra fuel.

Try richening the main fuel screw on the carburetor. (If there is one) If that is not it, you may have to clean the carburetor, replace the fuel filter, if you have not already, clean or replace the tank outlet/shutoff valve, and/or replace the fuel pump.

I have seen several of the Kohler mechanical fuel pumps failing in the last 2-3 years. Most were 15+ years old.
It is possible to replace the mechanical pump with a late style pulse pump by making a cover plate for the mount hole in the block that has a nipple in it for the pulse hose. Then mount the pump higher up than the nipple, either on the frame or engine.

Get an inline spark tester & install on eng, with eng running slowly engage pto & watch tester to see if you're loseing spark,if you lose spark check seat safety sw operation,sw may be loose/going bad & if you're leaning forward in seat to engage pto contacts in seat sw may be closeing killing eng ign.Try disconnecting seat sw & see if that cures problem,I had the same problem on my C100 & it turned out to be seat sw.
