Been working on this German Holder tractor since February and thought I would post a few pictures. The original Sachs two stroke diesel was totally worn out and parts for it were pretty much out of the question here in the US and not all that common in Europe. So I built an adapter and bolted in a 14 hp K321 Kohler that I had in the shop. Really wasn't that hard as the clutch is in the back of this tractor not in the bell housing. Made all the pieces here in my shop with a welder. drill press, lathe and an old Atlas mill. I didn't do anything that would keep you from bolting the diesel back in it if I ever found the parts to rebuild it. Tractor is a Holder A 12 built in 1960. The last picture is what it looked like when I started. It's been a fun project!!

And a successful project as well! The little thing turned out great. And the plus side is, few people who will see it know anything about the Holder, so no one will realize that the engine is not original.

Nice job on the tractor resto, interesting little tractor, are you going to use or no?

Actually a very close friend gave me this tractor back in February. It had been sitting in his large collection for a number of years not running. I'm giving it back to him when he comes down in a few months. It will go back in his building with about 50 more restored tractors so I bet it will never see much use and I'm ok with that. It's going to a good home.
