Snowblowers

Thanks to the guys that gave input on my post a while back. I looked at a lot of blowers and ended up buying an Ariens Deluxe 28+ with the larger engine ( 291 cc instead 254 cc). It seams to be a little heaver built than most of them out there. Thanks again for your response.

I have an MTD blower with a 10hp Tecumseh engine. My wife bought it in 1997 for my birthday. No complaints on the engine or blower.
It has the 28" swath. Hal

Hal your blower is probably built better than the new ones. I looked at Craftsman,Toro,Troy Bilt,MTD,Cub Cadet,Brute, Areins and some other odd ball named snowblower that are available in this area. I think Areins builds a better machine. Its warranty is better than the others (5year others 3 year if that long). Areins still uses a metal discharge spout and uses only one cable to run deflector on spour. The Areins uses AX engine that is built by LCT who took over Tecumsehs technology and improved it. LCt is part of Lauson Power Company.

Tom of all of the snowblowers I looked at in my opion Areins was the best built and was only $200.00 more than the same size and equiped of the other machines out there. At my age if I take good care of it it will out last me.

I just changed oil in my snow blower last week. The engine has a choke and a primer bulb. Even when its very cold it will start. Hal

I don't know about Ariens. They bought up Gravely and managed to turn a great name into junk. I have a 50 year old Gravely L with a "Dog eater" snow blower. Use it every year and it still tosses the snow right over the roof of my house.

Ya but there is nothing today that is built like it was 50 years ago. Of the snow blowers I looked at they are the only one thats gear case was cast iron the rest were a cast aluminum with one year warranty where as Areins has a 5 year. The others had a bunch of plastic parts and the Areins has very little plastic.

Oh yeah! The Gravely is in a class by itself. Wet, dry, ice, it doesn't matter, it's going out the chute!

I agree with most others that Ariens makes a good machine I have one that is 30 or more yrs. old and also a 2 yr. old machine. The only issue I have is the controls are so different it takes time to get used to the safety features on the new one.

Sence I have never owened a snow blower I plan on useing it in the middle of driveway till I get the feel of it. I also bought it to put a few paths around yard for the new dog. This little guys undercarriage is so low to ground it won't take much snow for him to be dragging. LOL!!

And you know why they call ot a dog eater? One of them little yappy dogs.....YAPPP... the machine will not even stop! Love my "l" and my commercial 10 machines!
