cub cadet 682 relay

I have a cub cadet 682 lawn tractor it is a 1982 . I was wanting to know what the relay in the wiring harness does, looks like it has three wires going to it. My problem is when I move the key switch my amp meter goes to charge then off charge starts good , lights may work then they don't could this b the start switch or this rely. Thanks for any help. The Relay located on the LH side of the pedestal, is called a "Reverse Relay". It is a safety feature wired in, such that when put the Hydro Lever into reverse, it will kill the PTO.

Sounds like you are in need of a new Ignition Switch.
