cub cadet 682 steering

I have a 1982 cub cadet 682 . What happens when u turn it cuts sharp to one side and not the other how do u adjust the steering box if u can . thanks for any help. Scott

I had the same issue. R Bedell said that the tie rods needed to be adjusted. I did that and got it close to even both ways.

Turn your steering all the way to the left. Then turn all the way to the right AND count the number of turns.

Place the steering wheel in in the "middle" of the turns you counted.

Disconnect the steering linkage. Point the front wheels straight forward. Adjust the linkage to where it will connect back up.

You are done.

More turn one way over the other can be adjusted in the linkage from the box to the spindle. Toe in/out and scuffing of the tires can be adjusted in the tie rod from one spindle to the other. They are usually one right hand thread and one left hand thread so you back off both jam nuts and turn the rod, without taking the rod end loose from the spindle. A lot of the time, the tie rod ends get worn, causing it to be out of adjustment. Check them to see if they are excessively loose.

I agree with 1670. It was kind of late last night when I replied.
Sorry if I led you astray.
