i have an old cub Cadett 73, all at once it won't run without choke. I have messed up the carb settings. Can anyone tell me the starting point for the needles? thanks joe

Sounds like you better start with tearing it down and rebuilding that carb. I'm not familiar with that specific carb but 11/2 or 2 turns out will usually be a good starting point for any carb. It will at least get it running. You've got some blockage to take care of first, though.

The initial settings for the carburetor should be:

Main (Top) = 2 to 2 1/2 turns out
Idle (Side) = 1 1/2 turns out

The Kohler site has free service manuals.

Hope this helps.

thanks guys, Had a busy day and didn't check the replys. I agree with the plugged carb, I removed the tank and cleaned it out , had rust in the bowl screen. New gasket and fuel line, will see how it works out. Might have to wait for a rain day to get to it.
Have a tractor show this weekend and lots of fall stuff to do . thanks again joe
