I bought one of these tonight and its an odd drive system..has a drive shaft running to a box with a shaft that runs a clutch on one side for mower and 2 belt pulleys on the other side with a lever that slides a belt tension pulley back and forth to change the speed at the rear gearbox..the clutch for the deck doesn't engage and haven't taken apart yet but was wondering how it works exactly..the lever moves it together but it wont lock up...there is a big nut on the outside that seems loose..perhaps its to loose to engage the drive pulley..are these collectable at all or just an oddity that no one wants?...this is the second one I saw today1st one was in mint shape but had one wide belt to the rearend with the variator style of pulley system instead of the 2 belts like mine..which one was earlier?..thanks for any info and advice

sounds like you have problems with your cone clutch. If the facings are worn it won't drive and needs replaced. there are also snap rings on the shaft that I have seen slip out of there groove causing things not to slide correctly. You have a 3 speed high and low gear drive tractor. People are starting to collect these as they are a heavy duty easy to repair tractor. the only problems are some of the engines they used in these. Also if the pto clutch won't shut off the brake pad is worn and not allowing the clutch to pull apart.
