Can anyone tell me what the heads are torqued to on a B & S IC 17.5 Twin II, model 42A707, type 2238E1, code 9904225B engine? I took the head off to rethread the spark plug hole. Not sure why, but the top valve is hitting the end of the spark plug on the left side of this 2 cylinder motor. The book calls for a long thread spark plug, it had a short plug on one side, now I know why. Thanks, Chris

All 420000 opposed twin engines I know of use RJ19LM plugs or the older CJ8.

Torque the head bolts to 160 inch pounds.

If you google Briggs and Stratton Torque Specs. you find a real complete chart on BriggsandStratton.com.

I actually have one of those engines on the place running a rc12yc long shank plug in one head because of a stripped thread. Its been in there for years. It probably hits the piston too, because it was real tight and refused to come out the last time I serviced the engine.
