Scotts by JD S2046

I bought a Scotts by JD 46" lawn tractor from someone and it has worked fine until this past weekend. I can't get the mower deck to raise or lower...it seems like a simple mechanism and for the life of me, can't get it to move. Any thoughts on what I can do to 'unstick' it?

Hi, if this has the handle in front of the seat/
between your legs it possible that this slipped
out of the cradle it was meant to ride in. I see
this on higher acre units

Finally figured it out, the former owner had used a rubber bungee chord to hold the battery in place and the one 's' hook had slid down in between the deck and the release mechanism and was jamming it. All I had to do is dislodge the hook and move it to a better location and it's working fine now.
