have a gravely gem 16 when you put it in forward mo problem takes right off but you put it in reverse jus t about moves you can get off tractor and hold it and it will not move belt is good and tension pulley is good also on back off tractor beside the part for free wheeling is a screw adjustment do not know what it is for thanks

Do a google search for old gravelys,click on link to gravely tractor club-gravely manuals,go thru listings & see if any service manuals listed for your tractor,if not google ariens ht16+service manual as the gem 16 is a rebranded ariens ht16,several sites offering service manual downloads/manuals.

If you're talking about crank handle/screw next to freewheel block on rear of tractor this is used to increase/decrease boost to lift handle so amount of effort needed to lift different attachments remains about the same.
