I dismantled the Sundstrand hydro on my 1979, c-141 wh tractor, checked the acc. valves. according to the down load manual on Sundstrand their nshould be small ball right behind meter plug. Their was none in the two that I check
their was plug,spring and valve.
On the valves there is a place that looks like it was machined flat, does it matter if flat spot up or downwhen reinstalled in port?

READ YOUR MANUAL-read top paragraph on supplement 2 pg in front of manual & look at drawing below same,in alt construction breakdown machined end of cone goes against spring.

Before you go any further locate a reliable source of parts,as I was told at least 10 yrs ago parts were nla from sundstrand or toro for these units,I scraped a charger 12 because I had a worn pump & hydro motor and couldn't get parts.

If yours has a good Sundstrand model tag on it, Check with Sauer Sundstrand. That may be one route for parts. I expect you will probably be out of luck trying to go through Toro, who bought out Wheel Horse.

Another option is to find someone parting out one of those mowers.
