I got owners manuel for tractor and service manual for 16 hp V twin BS on it. There is a serial number plate located on the covering over Flywheel on the engine, model, group, family etc. Is there a different number somewhere on motor or is group number the one to use? Also there is a bar code tag near the bottom of the block with a different number. would this be a replacement block? The NIKKI carb I have is like the one for this model, 303447, after the sn on the original plate. Just trying to understand what I have for sure

Sounds like you have a Vanguard engine.

The tag on the blower should have model, type, code. You need all those numbers in order to get some parts. (0n the very latest vanguard engines, it is stamped on the cast valve cover.)

I know Vanguard engines are sometimes slightly different (They are made by Dihatsu in the far East) but usually Briggs sticks pretty close to that format.

The bar code does something for production, but I don"t know what.
