I was mowing less than an hour and engine died. Walked around, kicked tires, checked gas, fired back up. Went 100' and died again, now engine will not crank or do anything. New battery.... Possible bad key ignition? Any thoughts out there? Thx

I would start by seeing if the engine turned over by hand. Then I would check to see if all the wire connections were clean and tight. The next step would be taking a test light to see if the switch was sending juice to the solnoid.

It would help if you post mod & mod# of tractor & mod# of kohler eng, simplicity made many model tractors over the yrs & kohler made many different mod eng and the wiring has changed on both with time, right now you're only talking in vague terms as to tractor/eng make/hp,without mod/mod# of tractor we can't even guess how same wired.

The problem may be in starter, ign sw,safety sw's,wiring harness/harness connectors or as simple as a blown fuse or bad circuit breaker.
