What is the diffrents between a model K321AS and a model K321S? The engine base is obviously diffrent but what else?

according to the service manual for K-series Kohler engines, The A means it has a special oil pan / sump

All of that info is mentioned in the service manual for those engines, which you can get free from Kohler"s web site, as well as a few other places on the internet.

The S means it has or is equipped for an electric starter.

Get a hold of a Kohler parts manual. Each Kohler K series engine has a six digit spec number the table in the parts books tell you what the differences are between spec numbers. As the previous post mentioned the A has a different engine base and probably crankshaft centerline. Other differences like crank dimensions, threaded or tapered, ignition, starter types, charging system, dip stick location, carb and shroud differences and fuel type (gasoline, LP or natural gas) will be called out inthe spec number

That manual has been linked on this site a bunch of times. You can also find it on the Gravely tractor club of America web site. just go to the manual secton. PDF file is like 135 pages of Gold information. Anything you need to know is there.

"A" indicates a special oil pan, "S" indicates electric start.

I have the ID pdf on dropbox here...
