Hi Does anyone know where I could find a good used 10 hp kohler engine model number k241s.

The cyl is wore and mesures 12,000 bigger at the top than bottom.
A friend said he thinks a 10000 thousandth piston might work or made to work?

Garry,

I just had a K241 bored and sleeved back to standard for $100 by a local machine shop here in NC.

If you put the .010 piston in, you will still have to bore or hone the bore so it will fit at the bottom of the hole. Kohler also offers .020 oversize pistons too.

If you go the "nother engine route, be warned that not all K241s are alike. Or even the same external size. For instance, K241 from a Jacobsen 1000 has a lot bigger crankcase and oil pan than a K241 used in a Cub Cadet. It uses a different flywheel and the sheet metal around the flywheel is different too.

Just get a Stens rebuild kit from ebay and have it bored to .020 or .030 over. That is what I did on my K341, two seasons on it now without problems. Fixing what you have is a much more reliable alternative to used. Remember, a used K241 is going to be about 30 years old at this point and may be worse than what you have. BTW, had about $250 in my K341, parts and machine labor.
