Neighbor gave me this tractor for scrap, but I wonder if it is really that bad, can it be fixed and is it worth it, I don't know what they sell for. The mower deck is rusted through in one place, it needs a new switch for the mower clutch, I haven't checked the tires yet if they hold air, said the engine ran OK, but his main complaint was the belt drive transmission, it ran so slow and replaced the belt at least once a year. I don't know anything about this model or brand, just wonder if it is worth fixing for a spare mower. I am willing to tinker with a little direction of what to do.

It looks like that model has the 2 speed transaxle. "Supposed" to be a sure-nuff garden tractor. (MTD"s interpretation of a garden tractor, at least. Not in the spirit of the IH cub cadets.)

That said, It is probably only worth about $300 to $400 here in NC if in GOOD condition. If you decide to fix it, you will probably put nearly that much in repairs. I think the only way you could justify fixing it is if you plan to use it enough yourself to get your money back out of it.
As it is, If the engine runs, its probably worth 75-$150, as is just for the engine.

Try advertising it as-is on Craigslist or a similar forum.
