Narrow Tractor

Did any one ever make a garden tractor that would fit down between a 30 inch row of corn? Was think about setting something up to cultivate sweet corn after it got too tall for my big tractor to travel over.
 
They built one and two wheel walk behind garden tractors back before I was born.
My paw done that many times on the old farm.

yeah they did....it"s called a mule!

I don"t know how high your corn is when you can"t get through any more, but it ought to be ready to be "laid by" by then and not need any more cultivating.
 
Sounds like you need to find a Choremaster or other one-wheeled garden tractor that used to be made years ago. There were several companies that made this style of tractor in the '50's. Edko also made a one-wheeler in the '70's; I have a pdf copy of a brochure that shows it but I have never actually seen one myself. Essentially all of these were like a push cultivator but with an engine providing the muscle.
 
If you look around on the 'net, I think you will find some pictures of homebuilt narrow tractors specially made to cultivate standing corn. Most were intended to cultivate rows over 40" wide, though.
 
Maybe I'll have to set my planter up with wider rows. I was thinking of a riding machine as I'm plant about two acres now and maybe more in my future. The guys that commented and showed me walk behinds were not on my mind but maybe I need to rethink them also. Thanks for replies guys.
 
Believe it was Simplicity,that made a 2whl Walk behind,that would tow a surrey seat with attachments beneath...Almost all bigger two wheelers offered the seat cart.....So shouldn't be too hard to fab up a trailer cultivator w/seat to tow.Mebbee even a small horse harrow mounted on wheels.
Simplicity,David Bradley,etc,even the later 2wheel Gravelys
