JD425 AWS steering cylinder repair

I know this has been discussed before, but all posts have archived. Just wondering if anyone remembers what specific "O" rings I would need if I had a local machine shop open the cylinder with a lathe and repair it? Are they a common size? I have a local shop willing to cut open my cylinder, but they said I may have to run down the new parts. If anyone who has done this could give me any direction on the parts, I would certainly appreciate it. Thanks, Mark

Very likely the seals will be a standard size and readily available at a seal and oring supply.

Since you have a machine shop lined up to cut it open:

I would let them cut it, bevel the ends, make it ready for the welder.

Then take it home, clean everything up, check for wear and rebuild-ability.

If it checks out, buy the seals, assemble everything.

Take it to a weld shop and have it TIG welded.

Thanks! This shop actually builds hydraulic cylinders also. They will cut it open and re-weld it right there. I was just trying to have the "O" rings ready for them if anyone know what they were. Glad to know they will likely be a standard size.
