MF 8

A gentleman approached me couple days ago and wanted to know if would be interested in a MF 8 mower he would like to sale!! I have 8 massey harris tractors in my collection and already own a working MF 10 mower with a front snow blower! Don't have much knowledge about the MF mowers!! I looked at it, the seat needs recovered (replaced), tin and paint is good as are the tires and overall looks to be in pretty fair shape (steering, shifting seem ok)!!! The motor Tecumseh HM80 hasn't run in several yrs but turns over, has electric start!! It has been stored inside since he quit using it!!! He said it still ran but motor was "tired" when he parked it!! What is its approx. value? Thank You

The last one I bought was in aboot the same condition you describe.
I gave $25.00 for it.

I had an mf8 yrs ago,the orig eng was a H80,if eng in tractor now a HM80 then eng has been replaced(I replaced mine with a HM80)in addition tractor came in a manual & hydro versions(mine was a hydro)if a hydro version parts for hydro unit may be a little hard to come by if there is a problem with same also if you need new isolation mounts for motor mount plate it can get a little expensive getting parts from simplicity dealer,I got replacement mounts from mcmaster online.

This one is manual transmission, he (owner) said he replaced flywheel once, don't know if he bought it new!!! HM80 155019A was on the motor!!! Don't really need it but would go with my MF 10 and do have a few Massey Harris tractors (8)!! My 10 has a Kohler and still use it, runs good!!! From what have found MF 8 was only built like 2 or 3 yrs?????

It's true the the mf8 was only made for four yrs(72-75)however basic tractor started life as an mf7(68-73) and was later upgraded to a mf8.

I would be surprised to find one with the original motor. I worked in a dealership in 1975, I could not believe how many 7,8, and 10s came in with the rod sticking through the block.
