I am trying to find out crankshaft size and length on a b&s 26hp v-twin vs. a b&s 18.5hp twin II opposed engine. The model #s are 446777 for the v-twin and 42d707 for the opposed. I am wanting to swap out the v-twin which is blown for a like new 18.5 opposed and need to know shaft size to verify if pulleys will work. I have searched internet and b&s web sites but no specs are listed. can someone help or at least point me in general direction?

I am just getting ready to pull one of these apart. The new shaft seal I think is one inch. It is pretty big. If you need I can measure it, but one inch looks about right.

Try a engine SALE site. They generally give such specs......But in general, you will find that "most" of the engines above 10 hp or so,built for tractor use are pretty much a standard 1"x3&5/8(?)or such, unless the engine was spec'd for a certain non std use.Generally not an issue.

#However when shopping for smaller engines,BEWARE,there are some folks out there, peddling used take-offs from defunct pressure washers and generators which are"stub-shafted" and useless for most any other purpose.Ads will usually lack any photos of shaft and fail to mention origin of engine. :(
