gravely repower question

Hi all, I"m getting ready to put a P220 onan in my Gravely 8123. Its out of a gravely so has the right crank. I noticed the end of the crankshaft has about 3 thousandths of wear on one side where the gravely spur gear sat. Is this enough wear to worry about? I have the equipment to weld a thin bead and turn it down if needed? what would you recommend?

Don't you need to worry about the temper? I know they spray weld crank shafts but you are not messing with a rotational area. Ask a couple of machine shop guys. As long as you have it centered it should work. Also ...does it need to be strain releaved?
