Hi folks, I'm helping an elderly neighbour who has no 2nd gear on his tractor. It is a 4 speed with hi/lo. Can anyone i.d. this transmission or have any experience with repairing it? I'm not even sure if there are parts/trans still available. Can't even i.d. the year of the tractor.Serial number of the tractor is 53212. Thanks!

Need more info////Find No info on a model 105 under original White/Oliver models.May be post 1984 MTD built White/If so should be patent plate/sticker under seat or on rear panel w/model number.

Thanks Lefty,
The tractor is red in colour and looks to be from the 60,s or 70's. The i.d. plate on the engine cover lists the model # as 53212, and the serial # as 1621. Transmission looks very heavy duty.

You may be able to find a gear if you or someone you know that works on transmissions as the gear may have a part number. The tranny may have been bought from a company that builds them. Hal
PS: There's a man in IN that has a lot of garden
tractors. I need to see if I can his number. He may have a parts tractor.

Trying to attach 2 pictures of the transmission I have to repair. Found out the tractor is a 1968 White Town and Country. Looking to i.d. the transmission, and also find some diagrams of the gear set up. Thanks

Your white was made by Jacobsen any white, oliver, ford or jacobsen of similar vintage that has manuel transmision is the same trans. John deere also used some of those tranies .

That is a Peerless transaxle but could be a 2200 or 2300. The will interchange. The axle housings - those tubes that bolt to the sindes of thecase - are different from what was used by other manufacturers like John Deere of Massey Ferguson. The axles are probably different as well.

Swapping parts is very feasible, it just takes time and patience.

As has been said transaxle is probably a 2300/2400 series peerless, according to service manual I have for trans looking at same from rear on right side case there should be an id tag with mod/sn or mod# may be cast/stamped in case,if you can find a mod# on case then do a google search for peerless+ mod#+parts, click on link to outdoordistributors.com,assembly drawing/parts list shown there for both mod transaxles, you can probably find a service manual online/ebay by searching peerless+mod#+ manual, also mike is correct as many/most late 60's/early 70's oliver/white,ford,mm and several other brands were built by jacobsen, the 105 oliver & white were the same tractor with the possible exception of grill.

Thanks everyone!
We have found the i.d. tag that says this is a Peerless 2324. We are going to disassemble it next week to see what is going on inside. I'll post some pictures when we get it opened up. Thanks again to all for your help.

ps. The gentleman that owns this is in his 80's, and it's hard to keep up with him!

This thing made a terrible noise in 2nd and then would lock up. I opened up the transaxle expecting to see a stripped gear, only to see it looking like this. Do you guys think these are excessively worn?
Can't find any reason for the grinding, anyone have any suggestions? Thanks all!
