Ford LS 55 Garden tractor

In my research it stated that this tractor had a 20 hp Kohler engine as equiped from the factory. I am looking at a unit that has an 18 HP Kohler command and the current owner does knot know if the engine has been replaced. The Ford LS 55 was made by Toro for Ford in 1994 and 1995. Then it became the NH LS 55 and was listed with the exact engine specifications until end of production in 2003. My question is has this engine been replaced? Thanks for the input.

The LS55 had either a CV18 or CV20 eng,early mod tractors(93-95)probably had a CV18,later mod a CV20,check sn on eng,if it starts with 23-25(93-95)then eng probably original 18hp.

Thank you. I purchased this unit tonight and the operators manual was included and listed the 18 HP Kohler as the original engine. Thanks for your input. I initially got my info from tractordata.com and they are incorrect with info listed. Thanks again.
