John Deere Hood Repair

The hood on my LX 176 mower has a long crack across the front going into the top flat part of the hood. My wife decided to mow this year and it has been trying at times. Not sure what she hit, not sure I want to know. I have heard of repair kits to fix the plastic hoods, not sure of the name or how good they are. What's the best way to fix this?? Thanks, Chris

Had one of those (lx178) same hood best repair is to try to find a good used one. new ones cost as much as the complete tractor is worth, or about 550 plus taxes. the upper portion can be purchased separately. they bolt together check ebay or google for dealers

I have patched pastic hoods with epoxy. Home Depot has an epoxy for pastic that worked well for me.

If this is going to be an on going epic with your wife mowing grass & you have same problem's I did with my wife yrs ago,goto ebay & search john deere bumper kit or mtd bumper kit,you may find a kit in deere listings or one in mtd listings that you can adapt to tractor,at least the front end will stand a fighting chance & possibly consider a read bumper also.
