Sears garden tractor

Can anyone here give me any info on this Craigslist find: http://semo.craigslist.org/grd/4553919439.html

I am thinking of going to look at it tomorrow. Any information anyone can give would be helpful

Made by Roper for Sears. That one has the high-low shifter making the transaxle have six speeds forward and two reverse. The wheels and tires are worth the $150 asking price if the tires are decent, no cracks or holes. That one is a 1973 or newer and twelve hp or more since that hood was not used until 1973. The older ones were different.

Having said all that, it's an old tractor and parts could have been swapped with other tractors.

Hi as Steve in MO. posted its a Sears Suburban 1973 or newer, it could be a ST 12 (12 HP Tecumseh) or a ST16 (16 HP Tecumseh) either way crank if it has the OH valve engine check that it has compression and pull the spark plug wire off to make sure it has spark. The Tec OH valve engines sometime will drop a valve seat then it wioll have little to no compression that is repairable, if it has no spark then the SSI (solid state Ignition) maybe be bad there are no new OEM SSI units available on e bay they price them anywhere from $125.00 to $250.00 but there is a new aftermarket ignition module available for #150.00. They are excellent Garden tractors tuff as nails easy to work on and lots of part available on e bay and elsewhere. I'd offer $100.00.
