Belt width Cub Cadet 682

I have a Red Cub Cadet 682 with a 50" deck. The deck drive belt from the engine is about 5/8" wide. I think the deck belt is only 13/32" wide. It seems to slip or the belt tensioner does not pull it tight enough. I had it off recently and the tensioner is free to rotate and tension with the torsion spring. Is this the correct width? I didn't check real thoroughly to see if the belt seated in the "V" or was bottoming out. Please inform me if you know the answer to this.
Thanks, Roy

You need to be careful with aftermarket belts. The "V" depth is not as much as origional equipment belt. I have had great service with Gates "A" and "B" series belts or Dayco "AP" and "BP" belts on my machines.

I believe I read somewehere that Cub Cadet used a different degrees of angle on their V belts and other manufacturers belts give poor performance due to not setting properly in the groove of the pulleys.
