David Bradley Walk Behind Tractor

I just pulled this machine out of the weeds on an Amish farm. Probably hasn't moved since the 1960's. Transmission seems to be still working, but the motor is probably toast. Anywhere to figure out the model number? are manuals still available?
It came with a disc and cultivator. I still need to comb through the place - there has GOT to be a plow somewhere!

If that engine is not locked up you can still get points for it. I have one my self with all the neat toy that go with it. Have not run it in a decade or more and many of the B/S side shaft engines will both right in place of the old engine. Worked on a good many of those things and even towed a small car behind one when the car would not run or did I push it do not remember which I did but it did the job

Bring it to the Waverly,Nebraska tractor show next month and I might buy it from you, I can"t go back home with an empty truck.

David Bradley made many different models over a span of several decades. Should be a plate somewhere on the frame or gearbox that has a number like 917.57____. The 57____ is the tractor model number with the ____ being either two or three digits.

Here's a link to a very informative DB website. If you click on the "Models and Features" menu you'll find a listing of all the different models and their features.

I haven't dug into it yet, Rich, but plan to in the near future. I figured I'd have to use a horizontal shaft BS until (and IF) I can find a replacement original engine.

Those old engines can be fixed easy. New rings etc and your better off then a new B/S engine. The old engine was cast iron so it can take a lot be re-bored etc and keep on keeping on for decades not like this new throw away junk we have

Old, I have one that my Dad bought years ago, the little cast iron B&S developed a rod knock and I replaced it with a 4 or 5 hp Tecumseh. Bolted right on. I still have the original engine if I ever get the time to work on it.

Well - The tag says this one is a 5751, series 200. I figure that puts it in the 1946 to 1949 range, probably the early to mid part of that.

Haven't tore into the motor yet, but the outside is kinda rough. I HOPE it can be salvaged.
