WOW what a "kit bash" machine! Looks like fun though! You have a very old model "L" machine from most likely the 1950s. I have one from 1962 and I can see yours is a lot older. Now let us start somewhere. The engine is not original and the Wisconsen in itself is an antique! Original machine was 5.5hp. They went to 6.6hp in the early 60s. Last was 7.7hp in mid 60s. Then they went to "K" series Kohler engines. around 1967. The handles are correct but cannot be tied down because there is no rear cover where the Gravely engine used to be. The mower is newer than the machine. It is a model 106. Look on the casting on the right side and that number should be there. Very strong mower. Take out the bottom drain plug and make sure no water is in there. Fill to the fill plug with 90wt or the green slimey oil grease used on Snapper mowers. Unscrew the top 1 1/4 pipe plug. Fill till you almost cover the gears. About 3/4 of the way up. Use teflon tape to seal. I have a brass clean out plug that you can get at a plubing supply. They make it look NEAT. The blade is like almost 3/8 inch thick! Sharpen and BALLANCE it. The gas tank MAY be the original turned sideways. The oil fill is just behind the engage handle for the mower. Should have a breather cap! if not there get one!!! To check the oil level in the tranny look down the right side of the machine just under that engage and you will find a little 1/8 pipe plug. All of the way at the bottom of the machine you need to remove one of the bolts that hold the axels to the cast frame. Check for water. The left or right side can be used but you want to replace a hard plastic washer behind the bolt so you can use it like a drain plug. The original engine used 30wt oil and pumped it from the tranny so you can use straight 30wt oil. The wheels on the deck are total hobby horse but work. That perferated thing on the front of the deck is a mulcher attatcment. It sould be turned 180*. It is upside down. The rims that the tires are on do not look original either. HEY it is red.. and the old Gravelys were cherry red. mid 60s they went to apple red. Last was Red orange color. Have fun with your toy. You have a Doodle Bug Gravely. Fun fun. Jeffcat

Cool looking Gravely. I have a spike hair adjustable drag for that unit if your interested. I bought it to pull behind my 4-wheeler but never used it. The spikes are like new and the adjustment lever is there and it all works. still has a metal ID tag on it. If i remember corectly its made by sears robuck

I'd love to see how the guy that put that hodge podge together linked that engine to a Gravely tranny!

Ken , i am coming to nashville next monday to pick up a boat. i can send you some pictures of it if you are interested. you can call me if you if you need to. 704-641-0892 cell my name is mike smith

the best that i can see, the casting of the motor is factory and is bolted directly to the tranny.. there is stamped L202 on the casting (tranny)? directly below the front of the gas tank.

Something is tickling a memory about Wisconsins on Gravelys...can't put my finger on it.

I wonder if the Wis. crankcase is machined to fit the Gravely casting?
