Cub Cadet 127 is tired

I have a Cub 127 and it acts like it needs some refreshing. It
just doesn't have the power it should and is eating oil like
candy. What all needs to be done to the old Kohler to
tighten things up? I am good with the big tractors, just not
sure what all can be done with this little Guy.

Big or small makes no difference same things cause engines to lose power and use oil. Bore and piston wear, valve stem and guide wear. For a little over $100 you can purchase a deluxe kit of aftermarket parts with everything needed. Lots of people sell same kit, I get mine from a fellow in Wausean Ohio who sells on Ebay and have had very good luck with them, 10 plus kits installed now. If you dont have a manual download one from Kohler's web site, best step by step you will ever use from the first bolt to the last one both tearing down and back up again. If you read and heed and dont try to jury rig or get by with half fixes the engine will preform as new when your done.
Pull the engine down before you order the kit and have the bore and crank measured. You can get oversized up to .030 on the piston and 010 under for the rod. DO NOT have the block bored until the piston arrives! The pistons in the kits are a touch smaller than OEM and the shop needs to bore to the clearance given in the manual NOT to a size 10 20 or 30 over standard size. Pay close attention to the balance shaft gears and bearings (which are not included in the kit) Inspect the gears and replace the bearings. Do not reinstall suspect parts here!!

Good Luck with it.

Is this the guy?

I've used him and have been very happy with his kits.

Yes, that's the guy. All of the kits come from the same place Rotary Products. But a lot of the sellers do not actually stock anything, he does and ships extremely quick.

Parts are available, if rebuilt right and properly cared for a Kohler K series will run 3000 hours or more. The IH built Cub Cadets are pretty substantial pieces of equipment. You should be able to rebuild the engine and give the rest of the unit some love for about 1/3 of the cost of a new tractor that wouldn't last as long.

Choice is yours.
