What voltage should the battery be for this tractor. It has electric start.

I don't believe the duall came with electric start. Should have a single cylinder Briggs I think a 23fbc. Has someone installed a starter generator or is it a newer engine with electric start?

Need more information. R8's were made for many years many different engines. Can you find an engine make and model number? There may also be a tag on the starter/generator.

Yes it does have a Briggs 23FBC. Type 203540 SN 34097
Just bought this tractor and am in the process of trying to get it running.
It feels like it has good compression but has no spark.
I've found one date on the tractor and that is on the side of the transmission. 4-?-48.
So does this make sense that it is a 1948?
So far have not found a source for points or condenser.
After looking at it closer the starter does look like it was added later.
Do these tractors have a SN someplace? The tag does not have a SN.
