I read somewhere on internet you can buy something like John Deere solenoid boost kit at an automotive store. Would anyone know what to call it.
Could someone explain how it works.

It is simply a miniature automotive relay (ice cube relay).

Connect it up so the ignition (start) switch operates the relay coil, which closes the contacts wired between the battery cable terminal and the "start" terminal on the existing starter solenoid.

John Deere part # for the AM107421 kit, including directions, is about $30.00.

The relay is really only meant for the p218 Onan engines
